The Department of Indonesian Language and Literature Education is one of the departments in the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The Department of Indonesian Language and Literature Education consists of four study programs, namely the Bachelor's study program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI), the Bachelor's study program in Indonesian Language and Literature (Sasindo), the Master's study program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, and the Doctoral study program Indonesian Language Education.

The Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program was established on August 15 1997 and received an "Unggul" accreditation rating based on 431/SK/LAMDIK/Ak/S/X/2022.
